Curtis Chin
I'm Curtis Chin, the author of "Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant" and the founder of this website. I grew up in a Chinese restaurant in Detroit. Our best-selling appetizer were egg rolls, while Almond Boneless Chicken was the best selling entree. They were both delicious.

Lúthien Liu
Hiya! I’m Lúthien Liu, the associate editor of this website. I grew up in Beijing and spent several years in Scotland and Michigan before moving to London last year. Having lived in so many places, I’ve explored a wide range of Chinese restaurants across the world. My favourite Chinese dish is Hot Pot—a comforting classic that always reminds me of home.

Yixiao Ren
Hey, I’m Yixiao Ren, a journalist based in New York City. Growing up in Xi’an — a historic city once the capital of thirteen Chinese dynasties and famous for its food — I’ve been a foodie all my life. I love exploring dishes from different cultures with my husband wherever we live, but my forever favorite has always been a childhood breakfast dish you can only find in Xi’an: hú là tāng (胡辣汤) — a thick, warm bowl of soup where veggies and meatballs blend perfectly together, marinated in just the right mix of hú (peppery) and là (spicy), giving the ultimate satisfaction to start the day. :)
